Automated Taxation

Dear Editor:

The new speed trap camera, installed just yards from our doomed ferry port, is the perfect manifestation of the de Blasio administration’s attitude toward Rockaway.  They cannot be bothered to find a way to save our vital link to the City but they are more than willing to find new ways to take more of our money.

Make no mistake about it: That new camera is about revenue, not safety.  The sewer plant location only makes sense if you want to ticket a lot of people passing through a remote area.  Lots of other places where cars regularly put pedestrians, bicyclists or children at risk are still unprotected.  The City’s priorities are clear.
